Ward-Prowse, 28, has joined the Premier League club for a transfer fee thought to be around £30 million on a four-year contract.
The England international captained Saints for their-season-opening 2-1 win away to Sheffield Wednesday but was not involved in their second Championship fixture, a 4-4 draw with Norwich City at St Mary’s Stadium.
Ward-Prowse made his Southampton debut as a 16-year-old in an Carling Cup tie away to Crystal Palace in October 2011.
He went on to make a total of 323 starts and 87 substitute appearances for Saints and netted 87 times. Only David Beckham has scored more than Ward-Prowse’s 17 goals from direct free-kicks in the Premier League.
