PROJECT MAKES BARBICAN EASIER TO REACH FROM SEA

Cattewater Harbour Commissioners have commissioned two new visitor pontoons to improve access into the city for vessels visiting Plymouth.

Visitors by sea will be able to make the short trip to the popular Barbican Dinghy Pontoon, and immediately disembark into the heart of the waterfront.

This is a big boost for the Barbican, because it will allow a whole new array of visitors to access and enjoy the wide variety of local bars, restaurants and independent shops.

The news has been welcomed by Captain Richard Allan, chief executive and harbour master of Cattewater Harbour Commissioners. He said it would help more leisure boat owners to visit Plymouth this summer.

Captain Allan said: "With Plymouth playing host to SailGP again in July and with the British Fireworks Championships in August, visitor moorings will again be at a premium.
