A PLYMOUTH-born author has paid tribute to a former teacher who helped him overcome a difficult start to life, ahead of the publication of his eighth novel this month.
Gareth Worthington said he was bullied while growing up in Honicknowle, but was inspired by a teacher at West Park Primary School who nurtured his interest in science.
Gareth went on to become a scientist before becoming an author, and his latest sci-fi novel is being released on February 28.
He has dedicated the novel, Dark Dweller, to his primary school teacher Mrs Gray, who died last year. It was Mrs Gray who inspired Gareth’s interest in science, particularly astronomy and physics.
