Work is underway on the new facility at the college's King's Road campus and it is expected to be ready for the September term.
Plymouth currently has about 3,000 unfilled job vacancies with a large proportion of them in the construction industry. The new college facility is designed to enhance training in construction subjects and support Plymouth's drive for economic growth.
After being approved as a provider of the new T-level qualifications, the college was also successful in bidding for £750,000 to revamp its construction facilities and develop a centre of excellence, that will revolutionise training and help mitigate the current skills gap in construction. The college is also pumping £250,000 into the new facility.
