THE Plymouth City Council ward of Moor View – vacated following the resignation of a Conservative councillor who had moved to Gloucester – is to be contested by prospective candidates from the two main parties.
The council has received enough letters from the public to trigger byelections in the Moor View ward, previously held by Cllr Shannon Burden, and also the Plympton Chaddlewood ward, previously held by Cllr Dan Collins.
Both were urged to quit, after they moved to Gloucester. The by-elections are to take place on January 12 next year, and potential candidates have until 4pm on December 13 to submit their nominations.
Plymouth Labour have put forward Derriford Hospital worker Will Noble for the Moor View ward, which covers Leigham, Mainstone, Estover and Glenholt.
Mr Noble, who attended Estover Community College (now Tor Bridge), is described as a volunteer at Elm Community Centre and Compassionate Café, a regular litter picker in the area, as well as being part of North Plymouth Speedwatch.
