PROUD Plymothians lined the streets as more than 1,000 veterans joined the 250-strong 29 Commando Regiment Royal Artillery in a march through the city on Saturday, marking the unit's 60th year in the city.
Soldiers from the regiment - who wear the coveted green beret and support the Royal Marines in battle - left their home in the Royal Citadel to celebrate the Freedom of the City of Plymouth and fill Plymouth with pride. In total, more than 1,300 military personnel marched through the streets.
Members of the crowd watching the parade said they were “so proud" of those taking part and congratulated everyone involved in organising and delivering the parade Dignitaries at the event included the Lord Lieutenant of Devon, David Fursdon; the Lord Mayor of Plymouth, Cllr Terri Beer; and the Master Gunner, St James's Park, Lieutenant General Sir Andrew Gregory.
