THE daughter of a Plymouth headteacher who took her own life after a damning Ofsted inspection has said it appears “no lessons have been learnt” following the similar death of Ruth Perry. Lucy Woodward said news of Reading headteacher Mrs Perry’s death came as a terrible blow and a reminder of what happened to her mother in 2015.
Miss Woodward, who celebrated her 18th birthday the evening before her mother was found dead, drew parallels between what happened eight years ago and Mrs Perry’s suicide. Both were dedicated to their professions and schools and had built stellar reputations over many years – only to be left broken by inspectors scoring them “inadequate”.
