Jess Floyd, aged 19, from Eggbuckland, is preparing for the half-marathon which will see around 60,000 runners make the trip from Newcastle-upon-Tyne to South to Shields on Sunday, September 10.
On her gofundme page, Jess wrote: "In June 2021 my mum suffered a stroke and, despite the strong recovery she continues to make, support from the Stroke Association is still key to helping her.
