A PLYMOUTH man has been warned to prepare for jail, after he admitted blackmail.
Timothy Pengelly, aged 59, faced a judge to admit demanding money from a man with menaces.
He made threats unless he was given &pound;260 on October 12, 2020, Plymouth Crown Court heard.
Judge Robert Linford adjourned sentencing for a further statement about the impact of the offence on the victim.
Judge Linford said: &ldquo;This is a very serious offence. I will adjourn sentencing for a further victim impact statement and for the defendant to make any preparations for custody. I cannot guarantee whether it will be immediate or suspended.
The judge said he had only seen a two-line statement from the victim about the impact of the offence and asked for more recent information.
Michael Green, for Pengelly, said: "He lives in a rented flat and he has belongings there. If it were up to him, he would ask for time to prepare before sentencing."
Judge Linford released the defendant, of Truro Drive, Whitleigh, on bail to be sentenced on May 20.
