A PLYMOUTH family has given one of the city’s historic pubs a modern twist by creating a craft ale bar and cafe just yards from the waterfront. Stonehouse’s Victualling Office Tavern had been closed for about four years until it reopened this week after a £200,000plus renovation.
Warren and Lucy Kressinger-Dunn bought the property in February 2022, after it was marketed for about £575,000, in a deal which included the pub and its adjoining cottage. They have spent months refurbishing the building, taking down walls and ripping up old floors, and inserting steel beams, to create a 21st-century business inside the historic shell.
The revamp involved opening up the main pub into one space, which will feature a cafe area, serving coffees, teas, cakes and small breakfasts from 8.30am, and then a bar from noon.
