TAVISTOCK manager Stuart Henderson praised the maturity of his young side as they claimed a 2-0 win against Malvern Town in Southern League Division One South.

Two goals in the opening 27 minutes from top marksman Alex Battle taking him to 12 for the season - were enough or the Lambs, who were then happy to sit in and see out the game and claim the points, which left them above Malvern and to 13th in the standings.

"I thought the boys managed the game well and I think Darren (Spong) summed it up well there in the debrief in that it was a mature performance," Henderson (pictured) said.

"The game was open in the first 20-25 minutes and we got our two goals. They then changed their shape - they were 4-3-3 and went to a 4-4-2 - but I did feel we stopped passing the ball, although we got in at half-time 2-0 up.

"We knew as the game would go on, naturally, they would throw more bodies forward, but it was all about keeping our shape and being disciplined. They had a few moments, but I don't really remember them creating too much and we always looked dangerous on the break.
