Gritty hosts end 'rusty' Parkway's good run

PLYMOUTH Parkway travelled to Hanwell Town looking to extend their six-match unbeaten run on the first trip in a sequence of five consecutive away games.

Parkway made three changes to the line up for their last game with Oxford City on November 19. Aaron Goulty, Callum Rose and debutant Ollie Hulbert replaced Harrison King, who was unavailable, Toby Down and Jack Crago respectively.

The game got off to a cagey start with Hanwell creating the first chance on four minutes, but Adam Parkes in the Parkway goal made a comfortable save.

Parkway responded with Austen Booth powering forward along the right, his deep cross finding Ryan Lane whose header flew narrowly over.

Play settled into a pattern switching from end-to-end with neither side able to gain control in midfield, with too many passes going astray and little quality in the final third.

On 11 minutes, Booth, who continued to impress defensively and going forward, launched a long diagonal ball to Lane, who cut in

from the left and fired in a fierce angled drive which the Hanwell 'keeper finger-tipped on to the bar, the ball eventually being cleared away to safety.

Play continued at a lively tempo but lacked much quality as the sides cancelled each other out.

On 28 minutes, a Parkway break along the left saw Callum Hall and Lane link well but the final cross lacking direction or penetration.

On 34 minutes, good build up play from Hanwell resulted in a shot from around 18 yards taking a wicked deflection which forced Parkes into a smart save high to his left.

On 38 minutes, another Parkway break saw Ben Seymour and Hulbert link well, setting up Goulty who fired narrowly over from around 20 yards.
