THOUSANDS of residents in Devon are being offered £150 towards the cost of fixing a 'leaky loo' by South West Water - or the cost of parts so they can fix it themselves as part of a new initiative to save water.
The firm has started sending out letters to customers served by Roadford Reservoir, together with LeakyLoo strips designed to be stuck inside the toilet pan, which can detect whether a toilet is leaking.
The company are offering contributions of up to the value of £150 towards the cost of fixing leaky toilets until April 8, as they say that between 200 and 400 litres of drinking water can be lost per day because of the problem.
