Cheapest car insurance premiums are in the SW

A comparison of more than a million policies across the UK by online comparison site Quotezone. co.uk showed average premiums in the South West were almost half that of the highest area - London - and around 20% cheaper than the national average of £548.52.

Average premiums in the capital were a hefty £781.01, while those in the South West were £422.88 according to data compiled by the firm.

Overall, regions comprising large rural spaces generally enjoy lower premiums than those that include large cities and urban areas where road accidents and car thefts are statistically more likely to occur.
