Bike for hire abandoned in centre of Plymouth

ONE of Plymouth's turquoise Beryl Bikes has been found 'stolen and dumped' in the city centre - just days after the shiny new fleet of electric bicycles was launched.

The fleet of new electric bikes, known as Beryl Bikes, was made available for people to hire in Plymouth last week. The bikes are part of Plymouth City Council's new Connect Plymouth initiative, and are intended to offer more sustainable ways to get around.

Just days of being available to the public, one was found 'stolen and dumped' in the city centre.

The bike, which was spotted on its side on New George Street, was found by Roger Kerrison. He said: "Stolen and dumped at the bottom of town. I knew it wouldn't take long."
