Farage and Truss attend opening of UK branch of US climate denial group

The Reform UK leader, Nigel Farage, was guest of honour at the launch of Heartland UK/Europe, which will be headed by the former Ukip leader and climate science denier Lois Perry.

The London launch, which took place last month, was also attended by the former prime minister Liz Truss and the Tory MPs Andrew Griffith, the shadow secretary for business and trade, and Christopher Chope.

The establishment of a UK branch of the Heartland Institute - which has links to the incoming Trump administration and has drawn on funding from ExxonMobil and wealthy US Republican party donors - comes as Farage seeks to make hostility to net zero a centrepiece of Reform's electoral pitch.
