Barbie sold just over 460,000 tickets between 19 July, when it hit screens locally, and the start of August, according to the Korean Film Council. The film's second weekend achieved only a 3.9% share.
In comparison, Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One has sold over 3.6m tickets in South Korea since its release on 12 July and the Pixar romance Elemental has sold more than 5.8m since its opening on 14 June.
Worldwide, Barbie, which stars Margot Robbie, made $356m (£276m) in its opening weekend, making it the biggest debut ever for a film directed by a woman. And women drove those numbers - accounting for 65% of audiences internationally, according to PostTrak - while 40% of viewers were under the age of 25.
