At least 16 people were injured after a private vehicle rammed into a public utility jeepney along the national highway in Sitio Sambag, Barangay Tuyan on Monday morning, March 9.

16 hurt in road crash in Naga City

A public utility jeepney sustained severe damage after it was rammed by a private sedan while picking up a passenger along the national highway in Naga City, Cebu on Monday morning. The collision left at least 16 people injured, including the drivers of both vehicles.

Based on the initial investigation by the Naga City Police Station, the incident occurred at around 9 a.m. when a jeepney bound for Barangay Basak, Cebu City stopped along the highway to pick up a passenger.

A southbound sedan suddenly swerved into the opposite lane and collided with the jeepney, causing the passenger vehicle to overturn due to the impact. The collision left the drivers of both vehicles, their passengers, and several bystanders injured.

Police identified the injured jeepney driver as Rogelio Omambac, Jr., 49, a resident of Barangay Naalad, Naga City. His passengers were Jomar Cabalquinto, 48; Danilo Bacus, 61; Reynaldo Abaquita, 36; Zaldy Secretaria, 67; Mary Lariosa Antonino; and a 16-year-old girl.
