SC junks Tata's Power plea against contract to Adani

The Supreme Court SC) rejected Tata Power Co Ltd's plea against the Appellate Tribunal for Electricity order upholding the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission's MERC) decision to award a Rs70 billion transmission contract to Adani Electricity Mumbai Infra Ltd.

Under the contract, Adani was to build a 1,000MW high voltage direct current link between Kudus and Aarey power stations. Tata Power, in its plea, had argued that the Maharashtra electricity regulator had not followed a tariff based competitive bidding process while awarding such a large transmission contract.
