The Reserve Bank of India has been looking into the foreign exchange market activity of large banks, with a focus on the arbitrage between onshore and offshore markets, two sources from the banking industry said.
"Initially, calls were made to sound out the banks on their net positions," a senior banking industry source told Informist.
