The doctors had announced earlier in the day that they will resume work only if their demands were met by the state government by 5 pm.
The demands include installation of additional CCTVs, to enhance the area of surveillance, deployment of female security personnel, adequate lighting, toilets, and provision of resting space.
"The protests will continue and we will conduct peaceful demonstrations all night outside the Swasthya Bhawan. If the demands are still not met, then even on Wednesday the protests will continue," said a doctor.
In the evening, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was expected to meet the protesting doctors at the state secretariat Nabanna; however, the doctors didn't visit the secretariat.
