The city’s dabbawalas will be taking a break from lunch breaks, in the coming month, in a manner of speaking. Thousands of office goers in the city who look forward to fresh, home-cooked lunches, delivered every working day by these reliables, will either have to carry home-packed lunches or make suitable arrangements, as the dabbawalas will be going away for six days - April 3-8.
The president of the Mumbai Dabbawala Association, Subhash Talekar said, “We had informed our customers well in advance. However, this six-day holiday includes two government holidays, namely Mahavir Jayanti and Good Friday. Effectively, the dabbawalas will only be taking four days off.”
