After constantly demanding to raise the fares owing to the skyrocketing compressed natural gas or CNG price hikes, the auto-rickshaw unions will hold a day-long protest on Tuesday outside the Mahanagar Gas Ltd (MGL) office in BKC. Currently, the CNG costs Rs 76 per kg. Their demand is to provide subsidised gas to auto-rickshaws and taxis and also increase the existing base fare of Rs 21 to Rs 23. There are nearly 2.6 lakh autos in the city.
