For the first time in history, the diamond units in Surat will observe a 10-day long vacation due to the ongoing severe recession starting from August 17.

The decision, taken unanimously by small, medium, and large diamond units in the diamond hubs of Varachha and Katargam, marks a significant moment in the history of the world's largest diamond cutting and polishing center.

The idea behind this unprecedented move is twofold: to allow the diamond artisans to enjoy the vacation with their families during the upcoming festivals, including Janmashtami and the Shravan month, and to halt the production of diamonds amidst dwindling demand in the international market.
