Akshay was invited as the chief guest at a book launch in London. During the event, he was asked if he would like to have a political career going ahead, to which he replied that he was "very happy making films".
"I am very happy making films. As an actor, I do whatever possible to take up social issues. I have produced 150 films, the one nearest to my heart is Raksha Bandhan. I produce commercial films, sometimes with social issues. I produce three-four films a year," Akshay said.
This is not the first time that Akshay has been questioned about joining politics. Back in 2019, the actor had straightaway stated that he would "never join politics", and that he only wants to contribute to the country through his films.
On the work front, Akshay will be next seen in the Aanand L Rai directorial, Raksha Bandhan, in which he plays an elder brother to four sisters. The film is set to release on August 11, on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. He also films like Selfiee and Ram Setu lined up in the pipeline.
