These numbers decide the political structure of the House. But the declaration of results is not the end of the process it is the starting point of a constitutional chain of events that leads to the formation of a government. SIMPLE MAJORITY: THE KEY TO FORMING GOVERNMENT

In India's parliamentary system, forming a government requires a simple majority, meaning a party or coalition must win more than 50 percent of the total seats in the Legislative Assembly. The exact number depends on the size of the House in each state, but the principle remains uniform nationwide.

A party crossing this majority mark on its own is seen as having a clear mandate from the electorate. This brings stability and a straightforward path to power. However, when no single party reaches the majority mark, the situation becomes politically fluid, often pushing parties towards alliances, negotiations, or support agreements to reach the required number.
