It is believed that while the world may end but the Kashi will endure because it is situated on Lord Shiva's trident. Kashi's name is also prominent in the political arena, as it is the parliamentary constituency of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is going to contest the general election from this seat for the third time.
Before delving into the political significance, it's essential to recognize Narendra Modi's journey from zero to the summit, making him a global example. Born in independent India, Modi served as the Chief Minister of Gujarat for 12 years before becoming the Prime Minister. His strong association with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is noteworthy.
Under Modi's leadership, India has become a force to be reckoned with globally.
His accomplishments extend beyond the role of the Prime Minister; as a Member of Parliament, he has been actively contributing to the development of his constituency. Modi has se cured victory in Varanasi in consecutive elections, turning the seat into a center of attraction.
Varanasi, historically considered a stronghold of the Congress, has witnessed victories by both Congress and BJP over the years. Notably, neither the Samajwadi Party (SP) nor the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has won on this seat in the last 17 Lok Sabha elections.
If we exclude the 2004 elections, Congress has won this seat seven times, while the BJP has won it seven times as well. In 2004, Rajesh Kumar Mishra of Congress emerged victorious. However, he later joined the BJP. In 2014, during the Modi wave, Delhi's Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal contested from Varanasi but faced defeat.
