PRUE LEITH said she has struggled with her decision to go public about a 13-year affair with a family friend, as it has upset her children.

The Bake Off star now questions whether she should have included details in her memoir about the romance with Rayne Kruger, the husband of her mother's best friend.

The star chef said her children were "upset" after she revealed the bombshell relationship in her 2012 memoir Relish: My Life On A Plate.

However, the TV judge, who was also a journalist, said she has no right to complain about the scandal being a major news story, because she put the information into the public domain and made her book more interesting.

Leith, who is promoting her new show The Great American Baking Show: Celebrity Holiday, felt that her love confessions overshadowed other interesting aspects of her life.
