All four were born prematurely and endured battles for survival that for some began in the womb. But all have come through, making their first family Christmas at home even more special.
Abbie Mason-Woods, 34, lives in Colchester with husband Karl, 35, and their twins Milla and Patience, born last December at just 27 weeks.
Abbie, a primary school pastoral leader, said: “At 22 weeks pregnant doctors discovered there was a poor blood flow to Patience. A few weeks later doctors told me the twins had to be delivered by emergency caesarean or they wouldn’t survive.
“They were born just a week before Christmas.
“Both of them were so incredibly tiny, we just had to pray they would survive. They had a battle for months afterwards to pull through.”
