Spaniard's final stand a piece of City history

ICONIC FINISH MADE RODRI

IT WAS the “iconic” moment which changed everything for Rodri.

The goal which he says defines him as a player will also go down in the history books as his greatest achievement.

Manchester City resume the defence of their European crown away to FC Copenhagen on Tuesday as red-hot favourites to win the Champions League again and they do it with the extra belief which comes with being holders.

City midfielder Rodri recalls in such detail and with such emotion his winner in last season’s final against Inter Milan in Istanbul.

He recalls with such admiration Andres Iniesta (right) scoring the winner for Spain in the 2010 World Cup Final in South Africa and his hero Zinedine Zidane’s goal for Real Madrid in Glasgow in 2002.

“Yeah, Iniesta and Zizou, I think these kind of goals and these kind of moments – they will last forever and I was so happy to live that,” said Rodri.

“To be fair, when you score these sort of goals in the moments, they are iconic moments and I could not be more proud.

“It was the first of this club, it was the first of everything and it will be forever for me.
