<p>Taking place across Moss Side and Hulme today and tomorrow, the annual celebration brings together the city&rsquo;s thriving Caribbean communities with a bright and energetic parade, delicious food stalls and good vibes soundtracked by the rhythms of Reggae, Calypso and Soca.&nbsp;</p>
<p>The carnival has been a cultural highlight of Manchester&rsquo;s events calendar ever since it was first held in 1972 and attracts around 60,000 people each year.</p>
<p>As usual, the hub of the event will be Alexandra Park, with a range of performers, events and family-friendly activities celebrating community, heritage and music.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The carnival was set to start at 7am with a traditional J&rsquo;ouvert, signalling the beginning of the celebrations. The carnival will then get underway with the parade, featuring a wealth of dance troupes, expected to set off from around 12pm.</p>
<p>There will be eight stages for entertainment throughout the weekend, with British-Jamaican dancehall artist Stylo G announced as the main headliner. More details on the event can be found on the carnival website.</p>
