The 59-year-old man was knocked down while waiting to cross the street on Park Road in Oldham on Saturday afternoon.
Two drivers - a 32-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman were arrested and remained in custody for questioning. Police say the pedestrian was hit by a car as he stood on a refuge island near the entrance to Alexandra Park Retail Park. It's believed one vehicle was travelling along Park Road, when it crashed with another car waiting to turn into the retail park. One of the vehicles then ploughed into the two pedestrians stood at the island.
