THE PRICE TO RENT AN APARTMENT IS RISING FASTER THAN ANYWHERE OUTSIDE LONDON... BUT WHY?

Rental cost through the roof in city

The price to rent an apartment in Manchester city centre grew faster than anywhere outside London in the second half of 2022, according to new figures.

Research from property services firm JLL shows that rents in the city recorded an annual growth rate of 22 per cent, compared with 18 per cent in Birmingham, the next biggest.

JLL said the surge in prices was due the end of Help to Buy in October alongside the rise in mortgage rates following September’s miniBudget.
