Much-loved ex-football boss dies in HGV horror

A spokesperson for Rochdale Coroners Court confirmed they had received a file in relation to Mr McCafferty’s death. An inquest will be opened at a later date.

Much-loved ex-football boss dies in HGV horror

TRIBUTES have been paid to a former football club manager who died after being hit by a HGV at a busy junction.

Paddy McCafferty was killed after a crash at the junction of Radcliffe New Road and Bury New Road in Whitefield, Bury, at around 1.30pm on March 15. The 76-year-old was walking when a lorry crashed into him.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. In a previous statement, a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said the HGV driver remained at the scene to assist officers with their investigations.
