A MAN has died after a fire ripped through a house in the early hours of yesterday.
Neighbours reported hearing screams as the blaze, that started out in the kitchen, spread to the roof of the building.
One man was killed and five people injured. One of the injured persons is currently in a life-threatening condition in hospital.
An enquiry is under way to establish the cause.
A woman who lives near the house on Warrington Road in Wigan said she was woken by the sound of screaming. She then checked her doorbell camera to see flames ‘billowing’ out of the top of the house.
Shortly afterwards, she said that a police officer knocked on her door and told them to get out.
