RYAN Giggs admitted he can't resist women and 'has never been faithful' as he took to the witness box at the start of his defence case.
The 48-year-old former United star is on trial accused of headbutting his ex-partner Kate Greville, elbowing her sister Emma on the same date, and of behaving in a controlling or coercive manner towards his former girlfriend between August 2017 and November 2020.
He has pleaded not guilty to all charges and is standing trial at Manchester Crown Court.
On the afternoon of day seven, Mr. Giggs took to the witness box and gave evidence relating to his career in football and how he met Ms Greville.
Under questioning by his barrister, Christopher Daw QC, it was put to him that he was well known 'all over the world for two things, namely his career in football and his 'reputation for infidelity, jurors heard. Mr. Giggs said: "Yes."
His barrister continued: "You have a reputation for infidelity, what the newspapers call being a love cheat?" Mr Giggs replied: "Yes."
When asked if that was 'justified, Mr Giggs said 'yes!
He was then asked: "You've had relationships with many women, up to and including Kate Greville, have you managed to be faithful to any of them?" Mr Giggs said: "No."
Mr Daw asked: "If you are attracted to a woman who has shown you interest regardless of your marital status, are you able to resist?" Mr Giggs said: "No."
He agreed that he would consider himself a 'flirt by nature and admitted that he had 'lied' to his ex-wife Stacey Giggs and Kate Greville, as well as other partners, about being unfaithful, jurors heard.
Mr Giggs denied ever assaulting a woman and denied ever setting out to control or coerce a woman.
