A DAD-OF-THREE has been banned from owning dogs after one of his pets savaged the leg of a police officer who was trying to help him.
Bodeane Rostron was lying in the road near the junction of Thicketford Road and Ainsworth Lane, in Tonge Moor, Bolton, on September 18 last year and officer Michelle Murphy got out of her police van believing that he was injured.
She soon realised that Rostron was drunk and did not have control of either of his two bulldogs.
The larger dog, called Bo-Bo, jumped on Ms Murphy's left leg and gripped hold of it with his teeth, violently shaking it, and dragging her to the ground.
Despite her screams, Rostron did not attempt to gain control of the dog, prosecution barrister Andrew Molloy told Bolton Crown Court.
Ms Murphy's colleague, Pc Duncan, repeatedly punched Bo-Bo in the face and he only let go when Pc Duncan pepper-sprayed him.
