BRIANNA'S MUM TELLS OF 'EMOTIONAL' MEETING WITH KILLER'S PARENT
ANDREW BARDSLEY
Both of us are mothers I feel a bit of a connection

THE mum of murdered teen Brianna Ghey described meeting the mother of one of her child's killers as an 'emotional' experience.

Esther Ghey met with Scarlett Jenkinson's mother and uncle a year after 16-year-old Brianna was brutally murdered.

Brianna, a transgender girl, was stabbed 28 times in a frenzied attack after being lured to Culcheth Linear Park near Warrington. Jenkinson and her friend Eddie Ratcliffe, also 16, were both found guilty of Brianna's murder.

Last month the pair were both handed life sentences, with Jenkinson ordered to serve a minimum of 22 years and Ratcliffe a minimum of 20. Last week, it was revealed that Ratcliffe, whose father Kyle Ratcliffe was recently jailed for exposing himself in front of two teenage girls, has lodged an appeal against his sentence.

Esther had previously told of her intention to meet Jenkinson's mother, who she described as looking 'completely broken' in court, to tell her she didn't blame her for what her daughter had done. She had also called for 'empathy and compassion' to be shown to the families of her child's killers in the wake of the guilty verdicts. It has now been revealed that the mums have met in person. Esther said she 'didn't feel anger or resentment' towards Jenkinson's mother or Jenkinson herself.
