THE prognosis for Dangerfield was good when the BBC medical drama launched 30 years ago. Nigel Le Vailliant played dashing police surgeon Dr Paul Dangerfield helping to solve crime and bring up two children on his own following the tragic death of his wife in a car accident.

Mayhem and medicine went hand-in-hand as the doc had to deal with everything from aches and pains at his GP practice to murder.
