CLASSROOM BAN HANDED OUT AFTER INTERCOURSE WITH TEENAGE GIRL
A FORMER teacher who had taught at a Kent school for nearly 20 years has been struck off after having sex with a pupil.
Tom Field, 46, worked at Ursuline College in Westgate-on-Sea, in the Thanet district, and had sex with the teenager at his home in June 2023.
The Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA) published its report, and has banned Mr Field from the classroom.
The panel said it was "particularly concerned" that "at the first opportunity" after the pupil completed her exams, Mr Field propositioned her for sexual intercourse.
Ursuline College is a Catholic mixed school for pupils aged 11 to 19 years.
Mr Field had dropped off a group of pupils in his car, deliberately leaving the teenager until last. It was before she got out of the car, he told her he'd "like to have sex" with her.
The next day, he drove the pupil to his home and he had sex with her. That evening he messaged the pupil, "seeking to see 'Pupil A' again outside of school'.
Five days later, he drove to the pupil's home, and took her back to his home. The pupil told a member of staff four days later (June 30) that they had "engaged in sexual activity". When the pupil was spoken to at her home on July 2, by someone from the school, she disclosed the second instance of sexual activity with Mr Field at his home, on June 26, 2023.
The report said: "Pupil A agreed to meet up. Mr Field picked [redacted) up from the bottom of (redacted) road in the early part of the following week at about 9.30am and went to Mr Field's house. Mr Field had called into work sick. They watched a movie and talked."
Mr Field admitted they had engaged in sexual activity.
Mr Field resigned on July 2, 2023.
ANDREW Sharp, chair of one of the alumni groups, The Society of Old Augustinians, told us the recently published agency report on Mr Field had "raised concerns".
