James "Shiner" Nolan, 34, died when the car he was driving was involved in an accident near his home at 2.30am on Friday.
His family also suffered another tragedy decades ago, when his brothers John and Thomas died in a slurry tank accident.
Mr Nolan worked on the family farm with his father Gerry and played corner forward for his local Clara GAA club, and the Kilkenny minors team.
His funeral details read: "Cherished and much loved son of Gerry and Brigd and beloved brother Dermot, Margaret (Doheny), Elaine (Denieffe), Catherine, Peter and Claire.
His remains will be reposing at his home in Carn today from 4pm to 7pm and tomorrow from 2pm pausing for Rosary and Vigil prayers at 7pm.
Mr Nolan's Requiem Mass will be held at noon on Tuesday at St Colman's Church, Clara with burial in the adjoining cemetery.
