Good doctor English has to start with a bang

IT will take a supreme effort by Mark English to make the Worlds 800m final in Budapest – but the good doctor wants to give it everything in that bid.

English, 30, has endured an injury-hit season, his bad luck summed up by having to pull out of the European indoors when he fell sick on the flight to Istanbul in March.

“I got into probably the best shape I’ve ever been,” said the Donegal distance runner. “It was unfortunate, you can’t do a thing about it.

“It was disappointing because everything was going well for me. Look, you have got to move on.”
