RORY Mcllroy made one young golf fan's dream come true as he let him practise his putting at the K Club yesterday.
The Ulsterman met seven-year old Michael Horgan after the Make A Wish charity contacted him hoping he and fellow star Jordan Speith would send him good luck messages in his battle against a brain tumour.
However, yesterday Michael was the guest of honour on the first day of the Irish Open as he got the chance to play the hallowed greens himself.
At the ninth hole, Rory handed Michael his own speciallymade putter, and guided him through his shots.
He then gave the youngster an autographed cover for the club and a hug. Meanwhile, Padraig Harrington's Bernese Mountain dogs were the stars of the show at yesterday's Pro-Am.
Wilson and Setanta came complete with their own credentials, with Wilson's identifying him as a "Good Dog" and Setanta's as a "Good Boy".
The frolicking mutts accompanied Harrington as he strolled across the K Club fairways, signing autographs for fans and checking out the putting greens.
He tweeted: "Believe it or not, this was the first time either Wilson or Setanta were on a golf course. It went surprisingly well.
"They like all the attention and kept themselves generally confined to the shady tree areas.
