Rory isn't Open to playing Juliet

RORY MCILROY has confirmed he will not play at this year's Irish Open at Mount Juliet.

But the Holywood star will take part in JP McManus' Pro-Am before heading to St Andrew's for The Open later this summer.

McIlroy will play in next week's Memorial, the RBC Canadian Open, the Travelers, and the US Open before skipping the Irish Open, which takes place from 30 June to 3 July.

Speaking to media for the first time since his US PGA Championship disappointment last weekend, the world No8 said: "I'll play these next four weeks, and then it's two weeks out from competitive golf I guess.
