BRIDGET Jones's Diary has been voted the best rom com to heal a broken heart in a new poll.
The 2001 film starring Renee Zellweger and Colin Firth came out top, followed by Legally Blonde and The Holiday.
Other classics in the top 10 included The Wedding Singer,&nbsp; Crazy Stupid Love and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.
The poll also found 28% have been involved in a rom com-like romance, while 11% believe the genre has changed their expectations of relationships.
Some 63% said they had experienced heartbreak, with 32% of those feeling&nbsp;empowered by rom coms having watched after a break-up.
And 62% believed the films could help the healing process such as by providing escapism, getting you laughing again and being relatable.
But 22% still cry when watching. Julia Foye, spokesperson for Costa Coffee, behind the poll, said: Watching rom-coms where ose A Guy In 10 Days the main characters move on can help people heal.
"These films can have a real positive impact and not only be relatable but put a smile on faces too."
