SUPERSTAR singer Katy Perry says she feels “so blessed” to be a mum as she prepares for daughter Daisy’s first birthday next month. The 37-year old gave birth to her first child and partner Orlando Bloom’s second during the Covid pandemic last August.

After a failed marriage with Russell Brand and a rocky start with Orlando, who she split with in 2017 before getting back together, she admitted having a child “heals your heart”.

She said: “I feel so blessed. It’s like a gift from God. Having a child opens your heart, it heals your heart and makes life just so much better.

“It takes you to that new adult level. They say that that’s when the girl becomes a woman. I definitely feel like a woman.”

Katy returned to work on American Idol five weeks after giving birth and continues to juggle being a parent with Play, her residency in Las Vegas, with dates this month, August and October.

While hits such as Roar, Firework and California Gurls have given her an estimated fortune of €340million – meaning she never has to work again – she is a “goal-oriented person” and doesn’t want to “lounge”.

She said: “Truly, it’s about balance. I want to spend every moment I have at home with my baby but I am also always checking something off of the list concerning Play.

“I find a lot of excitement getting a workout while dancing but it’s important for me to build that muscle and not ruin my knees.

“I’m 37 and it’s like getting this old train up and running again. I am just getting back into it.
