M&S quits Russia

MARKS & Spencer is pulling out of Russia after 17 years because of President Vladimir Putin's war on Ukraine.

The high street giant confirmed it was pulling the plug on the 48 stores it has in Russia, which are run by a separate Turkish company.

It halted shipments to Russia in March after the country's invasion of Ukraine.

M&S bosses indicated it would not return while President Putin remains in power, adding: "It is not going to be easy to go back in."
