A TOTAL of 97 monkeypox cases have been diagnosed in Ireland up until July 30 – a rise of 12 in a week.

The Health Protection Surveillance Centre’s latest report on the disease confirmed that 10 people have been treated in hospital so far, and the median age of those infected here is 36.

All Irish cases of the disease so far have been in men.
