DEREK Mooney admitted he would love to have got the The Late Late Show hosting job.
The RTE broadcaster, 56, who joined the network as a runner at just 15, has been with the station for 41 years and worked in different departments, including sports and current affairs.
He told Ireland AM yesterday: “I threw my hat in the ring and they kept throwing it back out again.
“Everyone was ruling themselves out but I was ruling myself in.
“Who wouldn’t want the Late Late show? I would have loved it.
