DERMOT Bannon has contacted Ryan Tubridy to offer support amid his shock RTE exit but said he has no interest in taking over his job.
Following a turbulent year for RTE and its top presenter, director general Kevin Bakhurst announced there were currently no plans for Tubridy to return to his Radio 1 show, which has been rebranded The Nine O'Clock Show.
TV architect Bannon, who was a regular on Tubridy's Late Late sofa, told the Irish Mirror: "I've sent him a couple of texts."
